Stations invest in digital signal, but will anyone be watching?
THE WORK'S BEEN GOING ON RIGHT under your nose, and you probably haven't even noticed it.
Depending upon how technically savvy -- and wealthy -- you are, it might be longer still before you're able to appreciate the biggest advancement in broadcasting since color television. Television stations throughout Arkansas have been working to meet the Federal Communications Commission's May 1 deadline to begin broadcasting a digital signal. The digital broadcasts, which will take place while stations continue to send old-fashioned analog signals, are the first step toward phasing out analog broadcasts. Digital TV promises sound and picture quality superior to that of analog broadcasts.
